On April 27, 1813 a combined American Naval Force carrying a large force of American Infantry under the command of Major General Dearbourn attacked the Town of York (Toronto) the Capital of Upper Canada (Ontario). During the battle the heavily out numbered British forces were forced to retreat to Kingston but not before burning the newly built frigate, HMS Sir Isaac Brock and blowing up the powder magazine. Which resulted in the death of American Brig. Gen. Zebulon Pike. After five days of looting and burning the Americans returned to their base at Sacket’s Harbour NY.
