Throughout the year Fort George in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario Canada, puts on special events to celebrate the history of the Fort, the Town and the Province. The weekend May 25/27 2013 was the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort George during the War of 1812. Historic Reenactors from Canada and the US camped at Fort George to celebrate and portray this event. One of the unsung group of heroes that greatly assists with the event is the group of volunteers known as the Friends of Fort George. They assist with extra bodies on the ground and organizing the feeding of the reenactors and staff. Without this enthusiastic group of people these events would be a touch more difficult for the Parks Canada staff and the reenactors to organize. To the volunteers, the unsung heroes of any organization.
